Kaizen Event at CORIL
March 11, 2011
Join member company CORIL in a one day kaizen event at the company’s facility in Bend. Event will be led by Dave Slavensky and Marc Faast from Structus Building Technologies.

The event will focus on product packaging flow. CORIL receives large quantities of candy bars that need to be organized, labeled, boxed and shrink wrapped. The group will develop an efficient flow for this process.

Two Day Problem Solving Event with Mike Hoseus

Mike Hoseus returns to Central Oregon for a two-day problem solving workshop on October 18 and 19.
 
DAY ONE:  
 
- at the Deschutes Brewery Mountain Room, examines different problem solving techniques and their applications using HiDEC member company problems as examples. 
- The Deschutes Brewery team will be working on their own problem with the group and on the production floor.
 
DAY TWO:

- at PCC Schlosser in Redmond, examines different problem solving techniques and their applications using HiDEC member company problems as examples. 
- The PCC Schlosser team will be working on their own problem with the group and on the production floor. 

HiDEC Members - $50/day
Non-members - $100/day

Tuesday Dec 8th from 8-10 am

Open to 3 observers (or participants if they would like)

First 10 minutes will review the project and Lean processes we are evaluating.

Remaining time will be practical application

The process we are evaluating:

Dust reduction at a router table

1-      PDCA- Plan, do, check, act

2-      Setup reduction

3-      Standardize work

HiDEC 2010 Planning Dinner

Tis’ the season…for planning!  We know you have holiday parties to attend, but isn’t training, sharing knowledge and charting the future of your consortium more important?  This is a follow up to HiDEC’s Executive Dinner held in September in which member and non-member companies gave their feedback and prioritized classes.  The HiDEC steering committee will present a draft 2010 plan to the membership and take input on additions/changes.  Please make sure to attend this important meeting which will set the course for HiDEC in the coming year.

Kaizen Event Study Results - HiDEC Event
November 10, 2009

Toni Doolen, manufacturing professor at Oregon State University, reveals the results of her national study of 50 companies on the effectiveness of kaizen events.  Through Toni’s research she has gained extensive knowledge on the key ingredients for successful on-the-floor events and effective lean culture.  Toni is also lending her expertise to the new energy engineering degree at OSU Cascades, assisting in the development of curriculum for the program, slated to start in Fall 2010.
